Living on Groote Eylandt for 14 years had a big impact on my art and creations. Working as a Ranger and seeing what the currents brought in with the tide, ghost net, rope, glass bottles, floats, seaglass, coral and shells. Whilst cleaning up beaches I found more items went home with me than to the dump. The elders taught me all the traditional ways including pandanus weaving, mixing ochres etc. and I ended up opening the first art centre on Groote called Anindilyakwa Art. For the past 5 years I have lived on a boat and travelled from Qld to NT collecting lots of items along the way. I like to experiment with anything creative including printing, weaving, painting, resining, mosaicing, in fact will give anything a go once.

We are a mother and daughter duo who specialise in creating top quality hand sewn items. We mostly focus on the heart of the home - the kitchen - with hanging hand towels, bowl cozies, oven gloves, placemats and more! We love the process of creating something with our own hands to produce an item that is unique and high quality - likely to outlast the mass-produced averageness seen so often today.

Hi there my name is Vicki and I was born in Alice Springs Mbarntwe Country. I love expressing myself through my art work with contemporary style and bright bold beautiful colours. I learnt to paint by watching my Tiwi Island family members and a few very well known artists around Darwin. I use Acrylic on canvas and express my culture and surroundings such as the animals and my cultural heritage in my paintings. I have been painting for 35yrs since I was 15yrs when I moved back to the Northern Territory to rre-unite with my family and learn about my culture and heritage. I mostly paint using the well known dot art, but I sometimes use Raark work which I learnt from Tiwi Islands.

My love of timber started my journey into woodturning. The grain & feel of a finished piece is exciting. I sometimes add paint to edges or paint pictures to highlights. Each piece is unique & dictates it's own shape. I am always on the look out for a new species of timber to turn. I started woodturning in 1999 & so far am going strong, keen to try different things. I also love to crochet, two very different mediums. Use mostly 4ply cotton for clothing in Darwin. Love experimenting with colours & making up patterns.

Resin Creations By Mini

I am a 'Territorian' having lived her for over 45 years and spent most of my life working in the Territory. I am a recent retiree with 5 beautiful grandkids. I started up resin art as a pass time in addition to my handmade cards hobby. The craft fairs around Darwin like the Green Ant Craft Fair have helped me showcase my creations. I make homewares using silicone moulds or wooden items to make items like drink coasters, clocks, serving trays, cheeseboards, Lazy Susans and I also make ornaments and jewellery using epoxy and UV resin. I elevate my products by adding embellishments such as cardstock, glitters, shells, glass shards, home made stickers and coloured pastes and inks to the resin.

Silver and Stone Jewellery

I combine silver-smithing and precise stone-cutting skills to create one-off and limited-edition jewellery pieces, with semi-precious stones highlighted by simple, stylish designs. Inspiration often comes from the natural patterns and shapes of the stones themselves, while in some pieces I use a selection of stones to create images of well-known Australian landscapes. I also use other natural materials such as cat’s eyes (a less well-known form of pearl) and Carpentaria Palm wood. While I taught myself silver-smithing and stone cutting decades ago, it is only since my retirement that I have had the time to develop my creative potential.

I am a linocut printmaker living on Larrakia land and my linocut designs are inspired by the rich natural environment of the Northern Territory. Each print begins with designing and hand-carving each block before hand-printing onto beautiful papers and fabrics. My designs are created in our vintage studio caravan, affectionately called Millie. The studio is a peaceful place overlooking the garden where I can watch the birds and be inspired by the richness and diversity of creation. It is a joy creating these prints for you, and it is my hope they bring joy to you and those you love!
